This new website is dedicated to all Australians who participated in the American Civil War and are buried in Australia, and to their descendants. It is a free-use website and though not completed we felt it was important enough to make available at the earliest possible moment. How To Transcribe Cemetery Data - US GenWeb The purpose of this project is to organize volunteers who will work together to create a lasting tribute to our ancestors. We will transcribe tombstone inscriptions and have that work archived for the future and made easily accessible to all. United Kingdom FreeBMD The entire civil registration index from 1837 of England and Wales is being transcribed onto this site by volunteers world-wide. It is a work in progress and so far has around 85,000,000 entries. FindMyPast.com This site is a pay for view of all births deaths and marriages from 1837 to the present. Some records are available for a free trial. Public Record Office This site allows you online access to The National Archives' collection of digitised public records, including both academic and family history sources. Searching the index is free, and it costs £3.50 to download a digital image of a document. The Proceedings of the Old Bailey, London A fully searchable, digitised collection of all surviving editions of the Old Bailey Proceedings from 1674 to 1834. It allows access to 100,000 trials, free of charge for non-commercial use. Scotlands People The official government source of genealogical data for Scotland. Containing nearly 40 million records, the ScotlandsPeople database is one of the worlds largest resources of genealogical information and one of the largest single information resources on the Web. The site provides a fully searchable index of Scottish births from 1553-1903, marriages from 1553 to 1928 and deaths from 1855 to 1953. In addition, indexed census data is available from 1881 to 1901. Family Relatives (this is a pay per view site) Have transcribed over 150 million BMD records for the period 1866-1920, and a further 150 million records can be searched for the period 1921-2002. The website also offers in association with the Oxford University Press and Readers Digest free access to some fascinating essay pages on family history. There is useful professional guidance about how to conduct genealogical research, and detailed information about the history of names.
